Tiv youths urge president Tinubu to end killings, land grabbing in Nasarawa

As President Bola Tinubu visits Nasarawa State today, Wednesdy, to commission key infrastructure projects by Governor Abdullahi Sule in Lafia, the Tiv Youth Organisation (TYO) has issued a passionate plea for urgent intervention to end the ongoing violence, killings, and land grabbing targeting Tiv communities in the state.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Lafia, TYO President, Comrade Isaiah Audu, decried the wave of unprovoked attacks that have devastated numerous Tiv settlements across four local government areas.

He said the repeated violence has led to the loss of innocent lives, destruction of farms, and the displacement of thousands of Tiv residents.

According to Audu, the most recent incidents occurred on June 13, and June 15, 2025, and affected Dooga Ayande in Doma LGA, Antsa in Keana LGA, Tse Yange in Obi LGA, and Tse Akura in Giza Area Administrative Council.

Among the victims reportedly killed during the attacks were Mr. Terfa Tswabee, Mr. Sham Kyodo, Zaki Kwaghtagher Ordue, and Teryem Aondo Apav.

Several others were said to be injured, and many families have since fled their ancestral homes for safety, the youth president stated.

He appealed directly to President Tinubu, urging him to use his visit to engage with security agencies and Nasarawa State authorities to bring the attacks to an end and ensure justice for the affected communities.

“We are Nigerians too. We have the right to live in peace on our ancestral lands without fear of attacks or displacement.

“Mr. President, we are calling on you today not just to commission projects, but to commission peace and justice for the Tiv people of Nasarawa State.”; Audu said.
